Academic Announcement Year 2027

Applications are now open for the 2027 academic year of the International Heart School, which includes participation in the ”MASTER UNIVERSITARIO DI II LIVELLO INTERNATIONAL MASTER OF CARDIOLOGY AND TECHNIQUES APPLIED TO CARDIAC SURGERY", promoted by the University of Bergamo, in collaboration with the University of Milan Bicocca.

The Master's degree will commence in the first few days of January 2027, will conclude on 30 September 2027, and will be reserved for 8 selected students, at the sole discretion of the IHS Scientific Committee, from all applications received.

The training offer includes classroom lessons, online lessons, and daily internships, with the assistance of a tutor, in one of the affiliated Hospitals (ASST Papa Giovanni XXIII in Bergamo – Niguarda Ca’ Granda Hospital in Milan – Policlinico di Monza – Hesperia Hospital in Modena – Regina Margherita Hospital in Turin – Auxologico San Luca in Milan).

Upon the request of the interested party and subject to agreements with the assigned Hospitals, IHS will assess the possibility of extending the hospital internship for a further 3 months beyond the end of the master's degree. This opportunity may be available to a maximum of 3 students, and the selection will be at the sole discretion of the Scientific Committee, which will also take into account the merits acquired during the master's course.

The candidate must possess a Master's degree in Medicine.

All teaching will be conducted in English, so a good knowledge of the language is essential.

It is necessary, even upon arrival in Italy, to have a good knowledge of the Italian language in order to interact with patients, healthcare personnel, and for social life.

For both languages, IHS reserves the right to request proof of proficiency and/or online interviews.

When submitting their application, each candidate must send a report in which they will precisely and exhaustively state their expectations for undertaking the training course, also indicating their preferences for topics to be explored, it being understood that IHS reserves the right to decide on the training course, also taking into account the assigned Hospitals.

The submission of a report from the hospital of origin, attesting to its training needs and the benefits this would bring to the hospital organisation, will be considered on its merits.

For the documentation to be produced, go to the “Training” section and “How to submit your application” and fill in the form.

For selected candidates, financial contributions are planned as follows:

  1. 1 contribution foreseen for university fees, room and board.
  2. 1 contribution which includes the payment of university fees and the availability of accommodation.
  3. 2 contributions that include the payment of university tuition fees and a monthly expense reimbursement of €1,000 for 9 months
  4. 4 scholarships promoted by the Anthem Foundation and awarded through the University of Bergamo, which cover university tuition fees and a monthly credit of €1,000.

For students awarded grants under points c) and d), IHS will provide information and language support for the search for accommodation.

The varied type of financial contributions is due to the different types of agreements in place with Hospitals and partners.

Therefore, the allocation of the type of contribution to the selected candidates will be decided by IHS, also taking into account that the scholarships referred to in point d) are subject to evaluation by a university commission.

When submitting their application, each candidate must declare that they are willing to accept any type of available contribution.

Applications must be received by 10 June 2026

Official communication from IHS of the selected candidates will take place by 10 July 2026
